- Have you ever wondered how many times you could fold a piece of currency
before it would tear? About 4,000 double folds (first forward and then
backwards) are required before a note will tear.
- The 100-dollar bill has been the largest denomination of currency
in circulation since 1969.
- If you had 10 billion $1 bills and spent one every second of every
day, it would require 317 years for you to go broke.
- Savings bonds are a popular gift for newborns because "one size
fits all" and the gift "grows" in value as the child
grows.
- If your dog eats your savings bond, it (the bond) can be replaced.
If your dog eats your homework, you may be in trouble!
- Well, just how much is a ton of money? It sounds like an incomprehensible
amount. But how much is 2,000 pounds really worth? Naturally, the answer
depends on the kind of money you’re weighing. According to the
Bureau of Engraving and Printing, all U.S. bills weigh the same: one
gram. About 454 grams make a pound, which means that a ton of dollar
bills would be worth $908,000.

- Budgeting is planning with your money. You need to set long-term
and short-term goals. Without budgeting you will not be using your money
wisely. A good deal in a store is not a good deal if you have to borrow
money to buy it. You want to budget your money so that in the long-term
you are financially secure.
- College may be fun, but it's not cheap. Even if you receive financial
aid or your parents pay your tuition, you'll face lots of other costs.
During the 2002-2003 school year, for example, the average cost for
books, transportation and other expenses (not including room and board)
was about $3,178 for students living on campus at a four-year public
college. By the time you're ready to start college, these costs will
be even higher.
